Experience

Headhunter.net

I oversaw all user interface development for Headhunter.net from 1998 until 2001. I also was heavily involved in many other aspects of the back-end management of the site, including server and database setup and maintenance.

Sybertec eStore

The Sybertec eStore was a large online computer store that I developed from scratch over a six-month period spanning late 1999 and early 2000. The store generated revenue of over $1 million in 2001, almost entirely as a result of search engine traffic.

InJesus.com

InJesus.com is one of the largest group communications services in the world. In 2002, I oversaw the complete redesign of the site and development of several new sections of features for its members, as well as being responsible for all back-end site management.

CareerBuilder.com

I worked with iProspect in 2003 to do search engine optimization on CareerBuilder.com, using the same principles I had used on the Sybertec eStore three years earlier. In late August of that year, I found several hurdles preventing search engines from indexing the site. After fixing each of those, traffic from search engines doubled by October.

I then took over management of CareerBuilder’s large Google AdWords campaign in January 2004. Within two months, conversions were up 80% and cost-per-conversion declined 43%. By September, cost-per-conversion was down a total of 60%.

Apartments.com

When I did the initial Site Analysis for Apartments.com in January 2004, the site ranked #1 for “apartments” but otherwise had no rankings at all and had less than 15 pages indexed in the search engines. After implementing some of my recommendations, the site jumped to more than 70,000 pages indexed and garnered tens of thousands of new rankings.

JobSearch.com / Careers.com / Job-Search.com

I built these sites from the ground up in March 2004, and within just six months the three had thousands of top search engine rankings and were driving more than 50,000 job applications a month.

Employment Spot

I assumed complete control of Employment Spot in April 2004, moving it to a new hosting facility, and converting it from a site purely for employment information to a fully featured job site. Through search engine optimization, I increased the number of monthly visitors by more than 75%. And through user interface changes, I doubled the percentage of conversions by those visitors. Overall, the changes resulted in a 250% increase in conversions.

Jobs.net

Like Employment Spot, I assumed complete control of Jobs.net in July 2004 and moved it to a new hosting facility. It was already a fully featured job site, but I completely redesigned the site—with design polishing from Goods for You—to increase conversions and to make the site more optimized for search engines. By October the number of monthly visitors were up more than 200%, and conversions were up more than 400%.

Distant Replays

Distant Replays is one of the premier retailers of throwback jerseys and other vintage sports merchandise today. Despite that, when I started search engine optimization on the site in September 2004 the site didn’t rank in the top 30 at all for throwback-related terms on Google or Yahoo.

After implementing the recommendations in my Site Analysis, the site moved to #1 on Google for “throwback jersey” and #2 for “throwback jerseys.” Similarly, the site rose from #199 to #1 and #5 on Yahoo for “throwback jerseys.” The site also gained many other top 5 and top 10 rankings and saw its traffic from search engines jump significantly.

House Buyer Network

House Buyer Network is North America’s largest home selling solutions company. Through a combination of search engine optimization, site effectiveness changes and pay-per-click management the site saw six straight months of record growth after I began work. Leads increased 125% and the cost-per-lead declined more than 40%.

Nursing Jobs.org

I took the #1 ranking site for nursing jobs in both Google and Yahoo, Nursing Jobs.org, and within just two weeks doubled the search engine referrals to the site. Within just four months, I had quadrupled revenue.
